Does it matter where you live to be in the music industry? The music industry isn’t like, say, the restaurant business. It is not located in each and every block. Consider it, if you intend to work for a particular firm in the music industry then you may have to go after it. For instance, if you are set on working for a big label, you have to go where those companies are situated. However, if you know you want to operate your own label, book shows, be a manager, or so on, an internet connection can help make any location a workable HQ. You may have to move around if you live in a area that is not teeming with firms involved in the music industry, but you do not have to be concerned because modern technology will help make things easier for you. 

Networking is a terrible word, but there are advantages to being able to create working relationships over lunch or a beer in person. However, there is a thriving music industry community online, so you can foster these associations with some friendly email exchanges/online banter as well. As a musician, you need places to play, and if there is not much locally, it can be tough. Touring is an indispensable part. Musicians that are keen in succeeding are willing to make tours all over the world, regardless of where they live. In spite of the lack of venues in a specific town that does not mean that you no longer have a career. 

Furthermore, success is not assured even when you are a part of the music industry in a large city. There is so much rivalry on any kind of given night that it can be even tougher to get individuals out to your show and get the media to cover it than it is in a little town. Being the only show in town can function to your advantage. Your place of dwelling may demand you to double your work, but you need to understand that you can still gain from staying out of a major music industry. Weigh your options before you decide to by pass town and kick off your career. You might just understand that wherever you are at present can make things feasible for you.
